Residential Window Installation Across the Metro
The housing stock here skews older than most of our markets, and the wood double-hung windows in a 1940s or 1950s home were built to be maintained rather than replaced. Once the weights are gone and the sash cords have been painted over, that maintenance path is closed. What you are usually deciding at that point is whether to keep fighting a draft or replace the unit.
Our windows are built to the measurement of each individual opening. In a settled house, two windows in the same wall are frequently not the same size, and an installer who orders to one measurement ends up hiding the difference behind trim. We measure each one.
Window Styles Available in Kansas City, KS
Double-Hung
Both sashes tilt in for cleaning. The standard replacement for most openings here and the closest match to original wood double-hungs.

Crank-operated with a compression seal that tightens as the sash closes. Better performance on the wind-facing side of the house.
Sliders
Wide openings, particularly in mid-century and ranch homes across the metro.
Picture and Specialty Shapes
Fixed glass for light and view, plus custom shapes for arched and non-standard openings.

Frequently Asked Questions About Window Installation in Kansas City, KS
How much does window installation cost in Kansas City, KS?
Cost depends on window count, size, glass package and whether any rough opening repair is needed. In older homes here, sill and jamb repair is common enough that we inspect for it during the measure and price it into the quote rather than adding it later. Your written price is locked for 12 months.
How long does the project take?
Most whole-home installations take one to three days once the windows arrive. Manufacturing is the longer part of the timeline because every unit is built to your measurements. We give you both dates when you sign.
Can you replace a single window?
Yes. Single-window replacements after a failed seal or storm damage are routine work for us. Whole-home projects get better per-window pricing because the crew mobilizes once, but we are happy to do one.
What warranty do I get?
Installation workmanship carries a 5-year warranty from Tailored Remodeling, and the windows themselves carry the Gentek manufacturer warranty. Both are provided in writing before you sign.
